An artist profile video is an excellent promotional tool for both the established artist and the developing artist. The profile video allows the potential art buyer and audience to connect with and get to know a bit about the artist. The artist appears in the video talking about their works and inspiration along with an expert or specialist of the artist's choosing. Generally the director of the representing gallery will comment about the artist lending their professional thoughts on the works.
The profile video can be a two to three minute promotional peice about an exhibition or project or a documentary of most any length. When using the video to reach new buyers we suggest a two to three minute peice. According to research, most people will view an online video for 2.8 minutes so it is important to keep the video under three minutes. Unless your purpose is to reach an already commited audience or fan base. In such cases a video up to eight minutes can serve as a great way to show what you are doing, how you are doing it and how they can purchase your works.
Another wonderful type of video is a documentary. Video documentaries can be about most any subject such as past projects, current project(s), the journey you have been on to creating your works or your even a biography.
